DESCRIPTION:SABA-NJ congratulates one of its own\, the Honorable Vidya Prasad\, on her appointment and confirmation to be one of the State’s newest Workers’ Compensation judges. She is the first South Asian judge to be confirmed during Governor Murphy’s tenure. Judge Prasad received her Masters in English Literature from Stella Maris College\, University of Madras\, India. She then obtained her JD from Seton Hall Law School in 2006. Before her appointment\, she was the Managing Attorney of The Law Offices of Vidya Prasad\, LLC\, where her primary areas of practice were Workers’ Compensation\, Social Security Disability and Immigration. Judge Prasad is also a member of the Mercer County Bar Association\,the  American Immigration Lawyers Association\, and the American Inns of Court. SUMMARY:SABA-NJ Partners with Meals for Heroes\, Basking Ridge
DESCRIPTION:SABA-NJ is proud to collaborate with the “Meals for Heroes” program launched in Basking Ridge\, New Jersey\nSABA-NJ is proud to collaborate with the “Meals for Heroes” program launched in Basking Ridge\, New Jersey to raise funds and send meals to front-line healthcare workers and staff at various hospitals throughout New Jersey that have treated and cared for patients diagnosed with Covid-19. The initial program was founded by Navleen and Raj Boparai of Hillsborough. Through the tireless efforts of SABA-NJ’s Executive Liason Director\, Rippi Karda and her daughters\, Nikayla and Adalia Karda-Marok\, Meals for Heroes raised more than $10\,000.00 in one week in conjunction with their local Basking Ridge Meals for Heroes fundraiser\, amounting to 1000 meals for healthcare workers. To date\, meals have been delivered to Morristown Memorial Center\, Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Basking Ridge and East Orange as well as St. Barnabas Medical Center. Through the generous donations of SABA-NJ members\, we have raised more than $2000.00 and at least 200 meals will be delivered to St. Barnabas Medical Center and Hunterdon Medical Center. SABA-NJ’s At-Large Trustee\, Sharmila Jaipersaud\, is Senior Counsel at RWJ Barnabas Health and assisted with logistics. We commend this collaborative effort and will continue to provide assistance in any way we can to combat the pandemic. \nSABA-NJ has continued to support Meals for Heroes which has facilitated meal delivery to frontline healthcare workers across the state during the pandemic. We thank Rippi Karda and her family for including SABA-NJ in this initiative.
